Higher education attainment rates in Texas are well below the national average. In 2016, Texas ranked 38th in attainment of associate's degrees or higher for residents aged 25-34 (37.9% of Texans aged 25 to 34 attained an associate’s degree or higher). [1] Just 21% of first-time, full-time, degree-seeking students who enrolled at Texas community colleges in 2014 graduated within 3 years from the same or another Texas institution. [2]
